Most BSD-like linux distro

I've tried freebsd before, and while I like it it doesn't support my hardware well, so I was wondering what the most bsd-like distro is

my guess would be Gentoo, its package manager, portage, is based on BSD's ports.

Take a look at Crux. BSD-style initscripts, CRUX also has a ports system which makes it easy to install and upgrade applications.

AFAIK, Crux is not a true rolling release, it has periodic releases that update the core set of packages such as toolchain, etc.

Sorry to hijack the thread, but i happen to be interested in the very same thing as the op.
Some people think gentoo portage is inferior to freebsd ports, being slow, (because it's coded in python) buggy in comparison to freebsd ports, and also more likely to break things. I am not a coder at all and am just repeating what i read, and have never used either gentoo, freebsd, or crux.
I would like to try each but with limited bandwidth and with a reliance on mobile broadband, i have a few extra stumbling blocks that make me a tad bit hesitant.
What about the bsd ports, how does crux linux ports compare with bsds, specifically freebsd? Also if someone disagrees or agrees for that matter, with the comment about gentoo portage, please share.
