Mint with kde or kubuntu?

I liked kde too much. And I also wanted to use LTS version. Both mint 8 and kubuntu 9.10 are available to me right now. And after installing any of them I have to upgrade to next LTS.
So I am very confused to choose from these both. I am currently using ubuntu 11.10 and tired of using it. I really wanted to change but dont know which one is better in look, performance, security, support, and something new.

Mint 8 and Ubuntu 9.10 are end of life, out of support.

You would find it faster and safer (security and possible problems from upgrading) to change ubuntu 11.10 into kubuntu-

By 'next LTS' do you mean 10.04 (*buntu) or 12.04 (the 'next' *buntu LTS version that will be released)?

*edit- 11.10, 10.04, and mint 9 (mint version of 10.04 LTS) are supported up to the same date (april 2013) so there really isnt much point to moving from 11.10 to 10.04 IMO.

Mint 9 and *buntu 10.04 have software center, not that I've ever seen the point of software center over synaptic.

'Better'?

Mint 9 and 10.04 will be very, very similar. After all, mint is based on *buntu so the KDE versions will be the same, performance would be pretty much if not exactly the same, suport.....hard to say, but if you are using LQ for your hints/support etc. they would be pretty much the same.

If you are planning on using the ubuntu forums (I wouldnt suggest it for various reasons) you wont be able to ask mint questions,e ven though (normal) mint releases are based on ubuntu. Last I checked the ubuntu forum mods and admins were still shutting mint support threads. Which was a lot of why I stopped having anything to do with the ubuntu forums at all. The mint forums are alright, but a far lower number of users does make answers slower than here, or the ubuntu forums.

If you really want performance you'd be better off with a different distro to ubuntu or ubuntu based mint IMO.

Hey cascade9 thanks a lot for such a long and descriptive reply.
Thank you very much for telling me basic things between them.
I have decided to go for mint now. Do you have to suggest me anything about this?

No problem.

No suggestions I can think of. There isnt a much, if any, major differences between kubuntu 10.04 and mint 9 KDE (assuming that is the mint KDE version you are going to).
