Mandrake kernel update fixes SuperMount.

Mandrake has issued a newly patched kernel for 9.0 that fixes SuperMount.

The kernel is "2.4.19-24", but before you update to it let me clue you in to a few things.

You can also get 2.4.20 but I don't think it's a regular update to Mdk 9.0
Mandrake Update gives you the source, but it still needs to be compiled.
I think this is the better way.
You can also get the RPM, but:
It will delete the old kernel.img
But, if you compile from the Mandrake Update, you can have both the old and the new.
The directions for compiling do not come in the Mandrake Update.
Most of the online directions I have found have been old and incomplete.
The correct instructions were found in the RPM and SRPM for 2.4.20...
If you install via the RPM, and the reboot doesn't work, the RPM deleted the old kernel so you will run into some trouble. You will have to boot off of your boot floppy.

Make sure you make one...

I would attach the instructions of this forum would allow attachments. :tisk:

I am going to place this in the www.justlinux.com forums so you can get the attachment there.

They allow attachments. :Pengy:

I installed via rpm, and it worked perfectly, for me. I even noticed a little extra speed at bootup, too!

I have no more floppy issues, either, which is nice.

Actually, I just found out that I lied. I'm having the same problems as before now :(

Well, it worked longer than the previous kernel did...
