I havent actually tried doing it yet, because I'm an extreme linux newb, and all the drivers say they require a kernel recompile, which I'm quite scared to do so I have no idea how to get my A7V133's Built-in Promise RAID/Ultra100 IDE controller working in Mandrake 8.1.

Has anyone successfully gotten theirs to work? I don't need RAID support, I just need it to see the HDs that are on that contoller.

OK I must be frank for this post. For any 1 i convience to turn Linux (whichever distro appeals the best) to after install recompile the kernel. Before you get to usta it. especially after putting valuable data without a means of backing it up. Now back to being Frank. I never had to support a raid controller, but the modules are already pre-loaded. I always disabled them. Now, I made the assumption that for safe keeping, leave it as a module if you dont know or understand what it is. Now if your having trouble with the controllers being recognized hopefully someone will post a reply on which kernel is the best to use. As 4 me just do it and work on it for awhile, u might surprise yourself. cheers
