Mandrake

How can I tell what firewall is currently installed/running on my Mandy 9 (2.4.19-16mdk) system, if any?

Is ipchains the 'default' fw installation from the install CDs?

I have found other threads describing how to configure fw scripts, etc..but no threads on how to find what is currently running or installed and sitting quietly on one's system...

Since it's a 2.4 kernel you're probably looking
at an iptables based firewall (if at all) ... the last
Mandrake I had dealings with was using shorewall,
and it was a major pain in the ass :}

Try iptables -L to see whether there are any
rules defined.

Cheers,
Tink

Check in /etc/rc3.d/ and see the entry for IPTables? Mine is S03iptables which is a symlink to: ../init.d/iptables Which describes the rules it sets up :)

Cool

The easiest way? Go into the Control Center --> Security --> Firewall

: )

And, yes, it's an iptables firewall.

Thanks guys, that got me wandering in the right direction. Now I am hoping that someone here will be able to help me out with a separate issue I am having with a different installation of Linux-- my problem is pretty much sumarized here: http://www.linuxquestions.org/questi...threadid=44204
