Making your own Linux distro

Hi all,
I have been thinking this morning, about making my own linux distro for learning experience. It should have pkgtools like slackware, no X windows, just DirectFB (the best for pictures and movie watching IMHO), Mplayer, and so on... Something lightweight, maybe Twin window manager. Maybe it should be optimized for i686 (celeron is i686, right?). It would be perfect thing for watching movies in my old celeron 333. So can someone post some links, or give advices, where to start and what should I do.

Regards

Hi,

Take a look here:

http://www.linuxfromscratch.org/

The LFS part is a must, it gives you a basic linux system. The BLFS part is the 'fun' part. You decide what will be on your box.

I think this is a good way to get better understanding of linux and all that is connected to it.

Hope this helps.
