Make own Gentoo DVD (stage 1 without networking)?
 

Yesterday, when I walked into a magazine store I saw a magazine accompanied by a DVD saying:

"Gentoo Linux 2005.0 Everything you need to perform a stage 1 install without network connection".

Well that magazine costed about $21, which I thought was quite expensive so I didn't by it. But I got intrested, and thought that it wouldn't be impossible create such a disc myself. But I'm not sure about what to do. What do I need if I start with the latest Live-CD? If I download the whole "distfiles" directory from the server and place it in the "distfiles" directory on the CD (converted to a DVD), will all the files be recognized then? Will all the files be the newest?
And suppose the packages take up more than 4.7 GB of space (which is likely), how can I separate them in the best way?

If there's more I need to know, tell me! Appreciate help.

The first thing is to go to
http://www.gentoo.org
You will need to download an install cd image and burn it to CDROM. When you boot the system it will give you screen of information to start the installion.
At this point I hit ALT-F2 to open a second screen and type in the command to open the handbook in the links web browser (text only). Then I have ALT-F1 to do the actual installation and ALT-F2 with the instructions.

of them did really help me. I HAVE installed
Gentoo previously (from an Universal LiveCD
and a package CD, version 2004.3), and I
HAVE had it up and running, amazed by its speed,
for example. But I wanted a more complete install,
as the package CD missed some vital packages.

I looked in the Gentoo handbook, but it didn't answer
the question I had, namely:
How do I do to create such a DVD, and where to
place things on it? Do I need more than one DVD
if I want all packages available? (Simple solution
to switch DVD during install is also needed, since
I have only one DVD drive.)
I guess Pete M meaned this guide, because this
was the only one I've found in that way, but it isn't
really what I searched for:

Also, is the Gentoo installer available yet?
How to include it on the DVD-ROM then?

The reason why I haven't answered earlier
is because I have worked with cleaning up
my computer before experimenting, and I
have some backups to make, which made
not to bother about Gentoo for a while.
