Mageia, Fedora or Slackware Full Disk Encryption with installation?
I am switching distro's. Does anyone know if Fedora, Slackware or Mageia has full disk encryption on install? I know my other choice, Arch, does.
I did use Mandrake, then Mandriva. I have tried Fedora but it has been some years and I can't remember if they had that. I never tried Slackware. |
Fedora lets you encrypt /home, and I think you can encrypt / if there's a separate /boot partition. Fuduntu, Mint, OpenSUSE, PCLinuxOS, ZevenOS, and ZorinOS also have encryption available at installation. Slackware certainly doesn't, but I'm not sure about Mageia.

Thank you. If I remember correctly, Mint curerntly doesn't. PCLinuxOS doesn't which is why I never tried it, not sure about ZorinOS. And I can't remember Opensuse at all, been awhile. I want to say yes, but I am not sure. I know Mandriva didn't have it so I am going to guess Mageia doesn't have it.
Too bad Slackware doesn't. I would love to give it a try some time. So out of my list I think I might be going with Fedora, maybe Arch. Though if I remember correctly Arch had it but it was a bit more invloved, not hard but more to it. |
