looking for a distro...

hi!
I have been using Linux for a few month now and i am quite pleased with it...
but, i find ubuntu quite boring and slow (i would have sticked to it if it wasn't that damn slow on my older machine).
so i tried Linux mint and it has a nicer menu but honestly, its ubuntu in a diffrent shell...

my pc hardware:
Pentium 4 3.00 GHZ.
512 Mb ram
built in intel graphics (don't remmber model...)

I was thinking of slackware, what do you say?

Then use a lightweight windowmanager, not GNOME or KDE

Your Computer isn't old at all and 512MB isn't litte RAM.
But you have to be happy with your distro.
The only way is you try various via LiveCDs.
I recommend:Divert yourself in trying out.
