Linvo 2010.3 released

Linvo is a GNU/Linux distribution aimed towards new users. The goal is to create a functional and efficiant desktop distribution, without all the unnecessery bloat of the modern desktop operating systems. It's developed independently, although it uses some Slackware packages, a slackware-compatible (though different) package manager. The desktop it uses is GNOME.

Linvo 2010.3 includes notable performance improvements, such as faster start up (around 15 seconds) and decresed memory footprint. Most of the packages have been updated to the latest stable version. It also features some things that make life easier, such as automatic updating of the package information, which is required for installing non-portable applications. The desktop (GNOME) got updated to 2.30, so there are numerous improvements in he desktop. The look of the desktop is also much better thanks to the Linvo artwork team.

Support for syncing music with iPhone OS devices (iPhone, iPod, iPad) has been added. Additionaly, you can use your iPhone OS device as a 3G modem or a WiFi adapter.

New applications have been added, so to use Linvo has became easier then ever! Most notably, the area of improvement is the social networking and PIM applications. Developers also will get excited, because Code::Blocks is back in Linvo! Considering the fact compilers and various build tools are included in the default Linvo installation, the new release is a nice environment for programmers, too.

The installer has been dramatically improved, so installation is simplier than ever! Also, the process is very fast - it takes from 5 to 10 minutes.

The famous bugs with the shutdown and the desktop locking have been fixed and this release passed through testing from a lot of people, so such things will never happen again.

The KDE edition will come soon and a DVD edition will be released soon after.
