Linux Flavours

What are they, which is the best, and what is the difference between them?

DrOzz 01-01-2004 03:37 PM

flavours is another term for distribution..
major distributions
listed on distrowatch.com
the best is whatever you make the best....its your call
too many distros to start comparing apples and oranges...in the end and when it all comes down to it, they are not all that different...

do a search on this site for keywords like "which is best" or "distribution" or "best distro", cause the question you just asked is the most common question i think to be ever ask in the existence of this website...

+1

Theyre all basically the same. Most come with KDE and GNOME installed and then it's just different programs that each distro has and maybe some different file system structures. Learn one distro inside out and you basically know them all. Try mandrake 9.2. I love it.

Moved: More suitable in our Distro forum.

Also, you should really try using our search tools, as this question is asked way to often to have more and more threads asking this scattered around the forum.

Regards.
