Linux distros with support for Xenix file system
I am looking at ways to migrate old data files from a Xenix system and I want to find out if anybody knows to a distro of Linux that can mount Xenix filesystems.
The system involved also has a tape back-up, Colorado 350 (QIC-80)could I use Linux to read the data files from tape and write to CD? I have used a Windows based utility to look at the tapes but I can only see certain types of file and I get some odd results if I try a restore! |
Hello. Sorry I cannot help you from personal experience, but I looked up some info and I found this. Maybe this will be helpful to you.

Code:
System V/Xenix/V7/Coherent file system support (CONFIG_SYSV_FS) (tristate) So if its in the kernel then theres a good chance theres a distro with it. I would suggest Debian/Debian based distros, their kernels have a fairly broad scope. Worst case scenario you could recompile the kernel and include the config option yourself. |

I have just checked my Debian and it has sysv fs support in the vanilla kernel. It may be worth checking if other distros also have it, but it seems likely. |
