Linux distros in the future...

hi, this is a debate-post...

I had a long conversation with my mate today about linux distros... (oh and... sorry for the typing mistakes, i'm slovenian ;) )... And i can say that i'm sick and tired of people spitting over distros and telling they're distros is the best....

Here is the scenario:
I'm in linux for almost 8 years now, i'm working as a sysadmin in a large firm (around 500 boxes) and i'm taking care of linux servers (+ some M$ servers, but that's not my point)... I have to say that in 8 years time, i've tryed almost all of distros and must say i liked slackware the most... Today i like slackware & RedHat, and i HATE debian. The years of experiences showed that the best distro for running on weaker machines is slackware, but like you all know i suppose, it's hard to update it and keep it running as it should. Well, RedHat was pretty unstable and weird, but version 8.0 kicks ass. Not because of the fancy look, but everything works as should (that's what i like most on slackware), and that's how linux should be!

I don't like debian because i can say that debian is NOT unix... I remember switching from unix to debian-- i was shocked... It has his own kind of tools for configuring, installing, updating tools that i don't like... don't like apt-... because it would take me some time to master all of his tools. I really don't have time to be learning some basics on debian now, i really don't. Every other distros were not problematical for neither installing, configuring and updating... at least for me. But i'm getting away from my point so i'll get right back to it...

So why should i be using some distros like slackware and debian? If i look in the future... slackware and debian doesn't stand behind any of (large) firms that would be developing linux distros 24/7, investing money in it... They're independent, and if u ask me the time will crash all the small distros... I bet on RedHat and SuSE, but i'm sure that if Linux will ever made on the market and be a serious competition to Microsoft... i'm sure it wan't be slackware or debian or... it will be Linux distro that stands behind a linux developing firm that support his distro, develop it 24/7 and it's investing money to get a better and more stable distribution. It's the only way that a distro will get better and better with time.

That's my humble opinion. What do u think? Do you agree with me?

p.s.: don't get me wrong here, i'm not spitting on any distro.distro and independent distro.

and no,I don't agree with you.
Linux isn't UNIX. RedHat is even less-UNIX then Debian is, so what's your point, why do you like RedHat then?
You're tired of people 'spitting over distros and telling they're distro is the best' , well I'm tired of people who say they're 'tired of people who are spitting over distros and telling they're distro is the best' but do it theyreselves.
This will be just another distro vs distro thread :o
