Linux Distros..

I was wondering how many people have used red hat linux enterprise.. and of those people i was wondering what are the thoughts of the distro.

I also wondering how many people tried are use fedora project from red hat.. and again of those people.. i was wondering what are the thoughts of the specific distro.

For general opinions.. I was wondering what are some opinions when it comes to which is better..

I actually paid 100 dollars to use enterprise.. and I dont think it's that great. Even if you install the kernel so that you can configure it.. it doesn't come with a .configure file. Well to the knowledge I have.. (warning i am a newb).

For those who actually have red hat linux enterprise running.. and running well..
I was wondering if we can have direct conversations.. because I can't get a pctel win modem to work nor can i get the wlan working either.

linux distros

andox; why narrow u field of distros, there are lots more to choose from. true
RH & FC are more popular but after reading most text on RH decided to go with mdk; now satisfied with it. started
at 7.1 upgraded 8.1,8.2 & 9.2. awaiting
settleing of 10 to stabilize before installing. have seen stormix, debian & others not my cup of coffee nor tea. so try as many as u can then settle for what suit u best.

I tried RH9 and k12ltsp which is fedora with ltsp already installed seemed buggy. mandrake is better in my experieces with the 2 distros but unless you have an old cpu you would be better off with a distro that the packages are compile for i686 I know yopers does and is suppose to be really fast

andox; i386 is 3rd generation intel cpu
i486 4th generation intel cpu which made them compatible with linux at first start, i586 non-intel cpu. now compatible
with ADM & other cpu,s. that is all information i have.

i586 would be pentium, k6-2, or k6-3 while newer cpus would be i686 except for the 64bit cpus

uname -a
Part of the output will be the processor.

I don't care for RH9, RHEL or Fedora. Bottom of the barrel as far as distros (IMHO).

andox; i,m confused? which is what ur attempting to do or ask? nomeclature of processors or laptops. they are too different devices which is most immediate need? may be from original ?
undecided which distro to choose for laptop? all devices have compatibility issues , research which work best with linux. the answers will clear choices.
