Hi Im after a linux distro like the title says. I'm currently using ubuntu on my own computer and have recently managed to get given an older dell. it has a pentium 4 processor and I recently managed to get myself a gig of ram.

Im looking for something that will be relatively easy to setup, and runs pretty well. Im still not hugely confident of my linux skills, as I havent been using linux for that long and am still getting the hang of how things work. So ideally the amount of time I send in the terminal would need to be minimal. I dont mind doing some reading as long as its well documented and easy to follow. Im "mainly" intrested in backing-up my quite large collection of dvds into either divx or xvid as it makes life easier for my disabled wife as I can fit quite a few films onto one dvd-r.

You can probably do all that with Ubuntu, I'm just not sure of the applications you'll need.
