Linux Distro Chooser - Dell XPS 400

[Log in to get rid of this advertisement]
Hello All!
I have a Dell XPS 400. I am new to Linux (very new, but absolutely loving it!!!), but, I am very computer savvy. This computer is about four years old. I have seen Ubuntu and it is nice. It does a great job of encompassing a lot of drivers so it will work right out of the box.

So I was wondering, what distro would be a good one to use to learn more about Linux and how to do things? I would like to learn a lot more but I am still a beginner with Linux so I don't know a whole lot and wanted to get everyone's opinion. Ubuntu has made it so easy to do everything... a lot of things are completed automatically. I am willing to try anything.

So the question is - "Which Linux distro is good for beginners, and will help teach me how to do more in Linux?"

If you want to learn to do things by the command line, an not GUI, try Slackware. There is a good sub-forum here. Slackware is stable. You will have to learn some things that will work on any distro.
