Linpus Linux Questions

Hello there...

I just bought an Acer Aspire One with Linpus Linux installed. My question is: can I install more programs into it? I'm a Linux newbie and I need to install something like Gimp. Will the Gimp versions for other distributions run in Linpus?

Another question is... the Media Master application does not play avi files. It says that there is a problem with the codecs. Where can I get the codecs needed to run avi files in Linpus' Media Master?

Thanks in advance for any help on this matter.

Al

The Linpus Linux website seems to be down now so I can't point to anything there for the moment.

Looks like the answer is yes.
You will want an RPM install file. Note the Wikipedia article says Linpus is based on Fedora.

From the Wikipedia article, also:
The Media Center version offers an "Upgrade pack" to legally use DVD, MP3, WMV and other non-free codecs.
This can probably also done other ways with a little more work.

Not sure if it is useful to post this also:

Maybe that helps a little?

EDIT: Here's someone replying to one of your Linpus questions in someone else's thread:
