Knoppix 6.7 graphics fail - ATI HD 4670
 

Upon seeing the new release, I downloaded and burned it, but I was disappointed with the results. I keep getting the graphics testing screens (flashing between the coloured stripes, grey, white, and black screens) and the desktop never comes up. I'm using an ATI HD 4670 video card and I've never had problems with Knoppix before. Help?

Have you tried some of the cheat codes on boot ( see http://www.knoppix.net/wiki/Cheat_Codes )
Specifically try (after the boot: ) knoppix xmodule=svga failsafe If that works, you might try experimenting with some of the others. Hope that helps.

When it gives the choice of live boot mem test etc pick live boot and hit tab (or e) to edit, on line ending ro change to vga=771 ro and F10. This worked for me.
Video drivers are a hit and miss thing. My HD6450 fails on all distros and vga=771 fixes a few, not at all Mint15 and wheezy comes up a mess but I figured out how to correct the mess every boot. good luck Ian
