knoppix 4.0 default boot into root, cant change it
I am running on a dual boot knoppix/winxp using grub, when I set knoppix to boot to the command prompt (init3), it boots to the root prompt, and when I start x, it also boots into the gui as root.
It also boots to the gui as root when i set (init5)
neither boot scenario is giving me the option to login as a different user, although i did set a second user on the sys using # useradd -c <username> <name> at the command prompt.
I noticed that the above user does not show up in the gui filemanager, but it does show up in kusers, plus my root account only shows as knoppix/home/
I tried to change the users in kusers and when i rebooted, the gui failed to init, giving me an error that said invalid user, i changed this back to the knoppix user default, and am again able to boot into the sys only as root.
the above is a default installation of knoppix 4.0, from the dvd edition. and obviously is not a good way to have the sys boot, can someone please post the proper way to change the way this sys logs the users, i would have assumed that it should at least let me log in as a guest, prompting me to set a password to log in a s root, and set up a second user log in?
thanks again
