knoppix 3.4 apt-setup on hdinstall / apt-get on live-cd
Hi,
I have two questions. I am semi-noob to linux, been using it for a few months now.
1. I have installed knoppix 3.4 on my hd and edited the sources.list file to my liking, although it would be nice to be able to use apt-setup. i type apt-setup as root and it says command is not found. Is there a way to install apt-setup? Is it possible I accidentally deleted it?
2. Is there a way to install software using apt-get while on a live-cd? I wanted to install gftp, and was able to do so on an hd-install of knoppix 3.4, but have so far been unsuccessful with the live cd. Also I have not been able to edit sources.list, its has been saying it is read only. The problems is that the default debian mirror always times out, and I can't figure out how to change it. It is ftp2.de.debian.org.
Thanks,
non3
