Angry Knoppix 3.4 apt-get ?? update........


I am using knoppix 3.4 with hd installed.now i want to search for new packages and software,so i am using apt-get check, and apt-get update...

then, apt-get upgrade or apt-get dist-upgrade ?

what's going wrong ? it said i have missing files or .....???

anyway,
how can i have safe deb upgrade and install new packages ??

Have you tried "apt-get install synaptic"? Synaptic is a gui frontend for apt and will show you what you have installed and any new packages available. It also has an update/upgrade option. Give it a go.

Did you change the /etc/apt/apt.conf to reflect the version (unstable), testing, etc.

First off, you should try apt-get update (logged in as root). I take it that it's not working?

As root, use a text editor on /etc/apt/sources.list

If you see any instances of "ftp2", then replace all instances of "ftp2" with "ftp". For several months, ftp2.de.debian.org has been dead. It was just a mirror for ftp.de.debian.org, though.
