Kde Mandrake Shutdown script

I have mandrake 9.1 and i am running kde desktop but there is no shutdown button on the menu like in windows or gnome. Could someoone please tell me what to put in a script to shut down the computer from the desktop.

I have tried the script: shutdown -h now

but it is not working - i think it might be somthing to do with the fact that i am running it as a user but it might not be.

Thanks in advance - Boffy

There's an option in the KDE Control Centre, either the Session Manager or Login Manager section, which has a check option to allow users to be able to shutdown the machine, or if only root can.
