K12LTSP for Educators/Newbies

Hi & Happy New Year!

Can their be a sub-forum for K12LTSP?

I'm a linux newbie looking for your opinions.
I'm exploring the pxes diskless workstations with possibility of implementing
k12LTSP, I have had alot of help on the pxes from Diego at SourceForge (Thank
Goodness for Diego!) but I'm still a little confused on how far the K12LTSP
will go. Can I run OFFICE 2000 on it still (my users are OFFICE NEEDY )?
Can I join it to my Windows 2000 domain (wan) so my students can log on using
their windows usernames & passwords & homedrives?

For a school division with low budget, I am looking at Linux for a new viable
solution. I have a 386k wan between 10 schools and currently run a Windows
2000 dc at each site (all on the same domain). 1000 pcs between pentium 75s
and pentium IIIs. I started to put in a Windows 2003 terminal server with pxe
diskless machines, but I was wondering if there was a Linux Terminal server
that would fit the bill better. (Literally fit the bill - school division budget!

The main needs are a lab in each school that will simply run Office (they can't
live without it), a typing program, simply accounting, internet access and with
any luck, be able to join the Windows 2000 domain for user id consistancy.
I'll leave the other lab as full pcs for high graphic and cd interactive
learning, (The Learning Equations)
Can K12LTSP terminal join a windows domain as a member server?
With so many different flavors of Linux - Mandrake - Fedora - Red Hat 9 - K12LTSP
- you get so confused..... I just would like some opinions of techs that
have worked with them.
