I was wondering how easy is it to install Ubuntu (6.10) compared to openSuse. What I am trying to do is install Ubuntu alongside Windows XP and found it easy to do in openSuse. All I had to do was let suse automatically partition my hard disk. I am not sure whether Ubuntu does this too. I just wanted it to automatically see unused/unformatted space that I have previously created for linux or if it cannot find the allocated space, resize the xp c drive to a good size (like suse does) and partiton my hard disk accordingly.
Installing Ubuntu is a breeze- I installed a dual boot just a little while ago on my laptop, and it was no trouble at all. I'm not sure about partition resizing however- if you need to do that and Ubuntu does not support it I recommend an XP application- PartitionMagic
