installing linux over windows


i want to install linux on my PC and i already have windows on it..suggest good linux distribution

Oh! You might start an argument with that one-
But first-please tell everyone all about your PC-RAM/HD size, etc.
There are so many distro's!
I will recommend many if you answer back to this post with your PC info...

Hi,
I recomend for you ubuntu, is simple and easy for installation and configuration, the installation of ubuntu can be down from windows is easy

If you like to have a GUI like KDE or GNOME , I think you should have about 512 MB RAM ,if you have more it runs quicker
HD space 10 GB will do.
Not knowing you;re spec there are 32 Bits and 64 Bits linux version.
32 Bits version runs on 64 Bits CPU but not they other way around.
There are also Live CD you can try it without installing to see with suite you best.
But you have to burn it on a CD as a iso image file

Go to www.distrowatch.org and have a browse, read some reviews then try one or two.
