How do I make suse faster on startup?

How do I make suse faster on startup? I really like it but it is just so slow even with the hardware I have it sould be faster. All the other distros are a lot faster.

'Slow' is a fairly subjective judgment, and in my experience, apart from the network detection in Suse taking a bit longer than it seems it should, the startup process is basically a one-time cost and once Suse is running, the performance speed is good. As for making it faster, you can remove any unnecessary services from being started when it boots up. If you are running Suse 9.1 I would suggest looking at /etc/init.d/README as a good starting place for a general discussion of this topic. Good luck with it. -- J.W.
