How can I upgrade KDE and Gnome in my current distro Red Hat 7.3?
Is there a quick install program with either of the two new environments? I've heard upgrading the environment can be a major pain. I would normally just upgrade to another distro but Red Hat seems to be the only one that can detect my keyboard (USB). I also am not a fan of Red Hat 8. I like having the two environments to play around with and Red Hat 8 seems to much like Windows.

I used http://kde-redhat.sourceforge.net/ to upgrade my RH8 KDE 3.0 to 3.1. It has support on it for RH7.3. Using apt, it was a couple commands. Apt will look through the list of installed packages, and the dependencies for the new packages, and works out what it needs to install. Pretty slick, IMO.

doens't redhat 8 still have up2date? should update your system to the newest official redhat releases

up2date doesn't have 3.1 yet.
I second the apt-get install of kde3.1 |
