How can I get files and folders on CrunchBang 10 Xfce desktop?

Hi.

How can I get files and folders on CrunchBang 10 Xfce desktop like so:

I presume I'd have to first create a directory titled 'Desktop' as there is none by default. What other steps?

Thanks.

I ran #! with openbox and Debian squeeze + xfce for a while, so I think I can be of service.

First of all, right-clicking on the desktop area doesn't give any options for adding a launcher? I remember that being the case, have you tried it?

Hi eveningsky339. Right clicking the desktop area only gives me the menu options, no options to create a new file/folder.

I think I remember running into this once. I had the options when I had a Home and Trash folder, but then I deleted them, and was presented with a different right-click menu.

When you say just menu options, do you mean just like the menu you see when you click the launcher on the panel? Or something else?

I would go ahead and create a Desktop directory in /home, then you just need generic .desktop files, I think they all follow the same freedesktop.org standards.

Hey eveningsky339.

Yes, I mean the rc menu is like the launcher menu. I may just settle with Debian instead. It seems like a waste not to be able to use the desktop in CB.
