Heads Up To Newbies Having Trouble

Dear Friends,

I just spent a week trying to get Fedora Core 4 running on my Thinkpad T21 laptop. And, needless to say, I learned a ton about Linux in the process. I can now naivgate at the command prompt untaring and bunzip2ing like crazy. But I still suffered from a host of hardware problems I could not solve.

Finally, after reading some forums about popular distros, I decided to give the newest version of MEPIS a whirl.

All I can say is: MEPIS where have you been all my life?

This distro was a breeze to install and EVERYTHING seems to work out of the box.

If you want to migrate easily and don't want to become a LINUX expert before you can get your soundcard to work consider giving this distro a try. Might save a lot of headaches.

Cheers! Gigi

Xandros is also a very user friendly OS. Works well with linksys wireless network devices. never had an issue with sound.

Have a Great Day!

Mepis is just one of many distros that work "out of the box". Suse, Mandriva, and Ubuntu are some others. It all depends on what you want. ;)
