yea. i heard yellow dog is good, but go with debian or debian based (ubuntu then install kde after. its not the same as kubuntu). if u go with yellow dog, then when apple switches to x86, u'll have to wait forever for YDL for x86 or you'll have to get used to another distro (YDLx86 doesn't sound right somehow). Ubuntu is very "let's spread linux together!" and that's not entirely bad. shipping cds for free is a crazy idea. i like it.

Can you tell me a website or how I can get more information on ordering a Ubuntu cd? Also can Ubuntu install on a low memory slower machine from a floppy (350mhz, 64 mb memory). My friend is ready to install Linux, and he cannot download Linux to his new computer because of dial up.

It is my understanding that the Intel processors Mac is moving to ARE NOT the same architecture as standard x86.. Mac OS X is NOT goint to be ported to x86 platform.. it's just a small change... I don't exactly remember how it was explained.. but I read through a big article in e-week about it..
i'd suggest learning slackintosh. i only didn't reccomend it b/c last i saw it (month or 2 ago), it didn't even have X11. what u learn on slack, u can use anywhere. plus its stable unless u really mess with it like i do.
slack has tons of different Window managers, like fluxbox and XFCE for low-end pc's and KDE for my 846 (but thats x86 processor speed) and higher..
