Gentoo default firewall app + lowid?
Hi there:
I have been running Gentoo for about a week now from a stage1 install and I now have a firewall question I wonder if anyone can help. Please bare with me as I am not very familiar with firewall and networking stuff. I have just emerged Xmule and when I loaded it up, it kept saying that I have a "lowid". I have opened the necessary ports in my Belkin router but as far as a know, I also need to apply rules to the firewall application for the opened ports to work. Now, as far as I can remember, I have not emerged any firewall apps such as iptables, ipchains. So, my questions are: 1. what config file would I state the firewall rules if I have no firewall apps? (this sounds a bit stupid, but I am stuck...) 2. does Gentoo comes with any default firewall app? If yes, what is it. 3. or would i need to install one to manage the opend ports and resolve the lowid problem? Many thanks CHUN |
