Fedora Core 5, would you recommend it?
 

What do people think of Fedora Core 5, would you recommend it.

Im not worried about installing to harddrive, I already make partitions for files and so that I could dual boot ME and XP, but I decided to get rid of ME and get a linux OS.

Im really looking for something that works, I do not really want to be doing constant matinance, while saying that im more than willing to change some settings, I just want it to be stable. I would like something with features, I like to have the ability to add and change feautres (not code, just like that floating task bar thing).

What do you think? A lot of people have told me Fedora Core 5, especially as I would prefer to install rather than run off of CD.

Fedora is a good distro - but it is bleeding edge software, wich means that there may be breakages and things you need to fix. I would suggest starting out with Ubuntu - it's far more "new user" focused.

I'll suggest suse 10 (Don't 10.1). It have convenient speed and very good hardware support. It come with many game too.
The wireless intel 2200 is working after installation.
The fedora core 5 consider quite new. I recomment you use it only you familiar linux.
it is user friendly but sometimes give you trouble. However, my opinion is much more better than before and suse 10.1

yea but some of that 'trouble' is what helps, or rather FORCES you to learn...

i did my first distro with fedora core 5 and i will admit nothing everything was straight-forward but I managed and I have been using it for about 5 months now... I am actually thinking of what other distro's to try out..... maybe one of those distro's with the *.deb packaging vs. the *.rpm
