Fedora Core 2 Upgrade
Hello, I have a computer that is running Fedora Core 2. I mainly use this computer to run my personal Oracle 10g server and Apache Web Server.
Would it be possible to upgrade right to Core 6? I have the CDs, I just want to try it and break something. Thanks! |
I bet there is, but I wouldn't advise it on a production box. Ideally, you should do a fresh install, test it, & then go live. I would also look at FC5 & CentOS as alternatives to FC6.
What is broken that you need to fix? |
Your best bet is to backup everything and do a clean reinstall.
When you install, it should prompt you to do an upgrade - I suggest doing a clean installation rather than an upgrade. --Ian |
I did an upgrade from Fedora 1 to Fedora 4 when it came out, and it completely toasted my X11 installation. I read a number of posts with users having similar experiences, so I would guess you would likely run into some problems b/c some of the major system components have had major changes, and an upgrade may break some of those things.
