Excellent unknown distro!!!! Must Read

Hey guys,
I know not many of you have heard of this distro but it is by far the best that I have ever used. It is called Mepis! Here is the home page http://www.mepis.org/ . This distro is very smooth and stable. I have never had it crash! It is so amazing I think everybody should try it. You can download it free here http://www.mepis.org/book/view/1462 .

It actaully won best distro from this site http://thelinuxbox.org/Tlbdistros.html .

I really encourage anybody new or experienced to come try out this distro because it owns. You can read the site or just download and you will immediately see how good it is.

Reply if you are going to try it or if you need any help with it. Or have any questions.

What the minimum system requirements for this distro? thanks

Not exactly unknown - it scores in the top 10 on distrowatch... but yeah, it is pretty good. Unless someone has a specific need for the Crossover plugins I would recommend Mepis over Xandros, and certainly over Linspire.
On the other hand, I recently installed SimplyMepis rc2 and Kanotix on two partitions of my test machine (Kanotix is basically a Debian unstable packaged into a liveCD, so it is quite similar to Mepis). To my suprise, Kanotix actually did a better job autodetecting and configuring my hardware than Mepis. Kanotix got both sound and video working out of the box, while in Mepis I had to tweak video and had no sound. Obviously this is hardware-dependent, but just sayin'...

128megs of ram, but you can get away with less if you use icewm.

Edit: i dumped Mepis cause it was pretty buggy lately and im using Yoper instead. its supposedly the fastets OS in the world (the install time for me was 2 minutes and 40 seconds) and it has support for nearly every package mangement system out there. ive installed suse rpm's, source, debs, and it als ohas support for slackware packages, but i never tried that.

although i used to recommend mepis to everyone, i think that Yoper is much better now.
