Hi, I may have just missed it, or I may be unaware
but when suse 8.1 came out they provided 3 full .iso's for the install cd's through suseag, as well as a full ftp install.
Now that suse 8.2 has been released, I am able to find anyway to install it for free, there are no iso's posted, I couldnt find an ftp install, and I couldnt find an installation tree. Is it simply not available for download of free, do I have to purchase it,
and is that legal?

Free ISO's that you will find now for suse were compiled by a 3rd party and may or may not work, as for an ftp that has 8.2 for download I have yet to find one, kinda strange...I will keep looking and tell you if I find anything.
I realize they no longer provide iso's for install.
is there any other way I can actually install suse 8.2 w/o buying the software, it is almost ranging on prohibitively expensive. I understand they don't need to provide iso's however dont they have to provide the os, as the kernel and many critical components are not theirs, I am unsure of the legality of this situation. Most likely I don't really understand GNU, please respond

that license is a license to distribute. if you distribute
gpl software, you have to also make available the
source for any changes you made in that software.
and it doesn't have to be ftp, and it doesn't have to be free.
you are allowed to cover your costs. even though they
are minimal costs, for media or distribution.
You can download the install iso (about 16 meg), burn a bootable cd and install from ftp. You may want to test different ftp sites to see which one has the best bandwidth. The first time I did a SuSE ftp install, it took two days. I'm pretty sure they have an ftp install doc on their website.
A couple places to acquire 8.2 are listed at Linux ISO, under the SuSE forum. Use a download accelerator to get it though because the sites are pretty flakey.
