Don't You Hate It When...

Don't you hate it when you're missing a shizzle-load of libs/packages during a compilation/installation process?

There's hope.

Check out Gentoo. It offers Portage - a system that automatically retrieves all necessary packages and compiles almosts all known applications.

I REEAALYYY don't think it's necessary to start a new thread just to advertise Gentoo. There are other distros that do this as well, like Debian has apt-get and Slackware has slapt-get. This is a Linux forum, so if people that posted pointless threads without searching first would see that and... You get my point.
I'm not trying to flame you, it's great that Gentoo offers Portage, but it isn't necessary to start a thread about it. You also don't have a really good title, the mods hate it when you make a thread with a title that isn't really helpful to the thread.
Just pointing this out so that this forum can stay nice and tidy and that everybody stays happy. I learned this lesson myself when I signed up, just passing it on.
