Distro for a cluster

I don't want to start a war but....
"What is a good distro for a cluster"

I will be running on 8, dual core xeno 3.2GHz processor, 1GB Ram, 60 Gb hard drives. I hope to be able to run a special package("xcms") from a statistical language called "R". They will probably be some other things as well but mainly that. I know that I will need to get the packages for the language separately, however is there any distro that could make life "as easy as possible"? GUI's or something?

Cheers and thx for the help,

The National Center for Supercomputing Applications (NCSA) uses SuSE.
Debian Cluster Components (DCC) obviously recommends Debian.
The Linux High Performance Computing (LinuxHPC) organization gives a nod to several including SuSE, Gentoo, Debian, and Fedora.
