Question Distro advice for an "Entertainment" laptop?

Hi guys

I'm about to purchase a new laptop, which is classed as an "Entertainment" laptop and has a glossy wide screen. It also comes with windows media centre, which will be coming straight off as soon as I unpack it.

I'm looking for advice on which distro to select to get the best out of this laptop. I'll be using it for 2 things:
  • as originally intended - an Entertainment centre for when I'm not at home, and
  • as a development machine (internet, mobile java games, maybe a bit of Blender...)

For development, I've thinking about using Ubuntu after reading a little about it, however I'm very comfortable with debian and fedora as I've a few servers running these distros.

For the entertainment, I'm looking to have something that will be able to use my Hauppauge USB-Stick DVB-T tuner and play DVDs without too much running in the background. I've read a little about MythTV and Freevo, and I'm wondering whether it'd be a good idea to dual-boot between the "dev" system and maybe something like KnopMyth.

So, can you guys offer advice? Should I split the machine into two seperate "systems", or leave it as one? What would you recommend as the distro(s) of choice?
