Question Debian Updates

Just a quick question, if I were to install Debian woody as a base system, how feasible is it to update the system to sarge/sid as a base system and then install the packages I need for that - using a MODEM
Reason for this is that I am not able to successfully download/create .iso's for sid (from work), so this was my alternative route (since I can get the woody .iso's.
Thanks.
