Debian dpkg error

I tried to remove the ed edtitor and got this error:

Setting up ed (0.2-19) ...
update-alternatives: unable to make /usr/man/man1/editor.1.gz.dpkg-tmp a symlink to /etc/alternatives/editor.1.gz: No such file or directory
dpkg: error processing ed (--configure):
subprocess post-installation script returned error exit status 2
Errors were encountered while processing:
ed
E: Sub-process /usr/bin/dpkg returned an error code (1)

(this is from when i try to reinstall/reconfigure it with the "apt-get -f install" option).

Any ideas?

Try this

dpkg --purge ed

apt-get clean

apt-get autoclean

apt-get install ed

It's what I do when something breaks in a basic package.
