create a distribution


Hi!
Where can I find a tutorial about how to create your own linux distribution?

Or you can try googling for "remaster" and the distro you like the best. This basically allows you to change the package collections and base your "new" distribution on one you already like. Here's a link to a Debian remastering tool http://www.livedistro.org/resources/...e2d7c650696bf4

Sorry, but I do not think that creating more Linux distros is a good idea. I think it would be better for the overall cause if people with the requisite skills would work on existing issues---join existing teams.

If you are going for filling a niche that is not already well-addressed, that's good.

Very seldom do I disagree with you, but I do now. I think creating or remastering a Linux distro is a good project for people wanting to learn more about Linux. I know I do.

I guess I was projecting and assuming that the creation of a new distro might meant it would be published and become number 483 on Distrowatch.

Creating one's own distro for learning surely makes sense. Does Linux from Scratch fill this niche?
