Could my hardware be compatible with other distros if it is incompatible with many?

So far, I have tried Ubuntu Edgy and Feisty Herd 5, Mepis 6, Linux Mint, and PCLinuxOS TR3. My USB card works with none of them. (See this thread and this thread for more info)

I'm hesitating with trying Fedora and OpenSuSE because they have no live CDs and they require many CDs (I have no DVD burner).

Do you think it's worth trying those other distros considering that my hardware doesn't work with many distros?

Try KNOPPIX. IT is a live-cd with excellent hardware detection.

Thanks for the advice. I'm downloading it now. :)
