Connecting to Microsoft SQL Server 2000
I'm sitting in class right now trying to connect to a sql server 2000 database with mysql, but I have never used mysql before. Is this even possible? I used the command. "mysql -h 10.1.1.5 -u sa -p" and i get an error 111 cannot connect to 10.1.1.5. Could someone help me? Or is there an easier app I could use? Better yet, is there one that comes with open office or something?
I am using redhat 9 and trying to connect to Microsoft SQL Server 2000 with sp3 running on Windows 2000 Server with sp2 Than ks in advance! -Sput |

Hey,
Sorry I didn't see your response earlier, no I'm sorry, I have pretty much given up on this. I know you can set up ODBC through open office and can access databases, etc.. but as far as a SQL database.. who knows? Let me know if you find anything. |
yep, you need an linux odbc driver. there is one somewhere, but google isn't working for me now. i do remember seeing that it's not complete. who do you think would be motivated to write such a driver - m$ ;>) ?

google is your friend - try:
ms sql server linux odbc |
thanks guys - I will give it a shot
