compressing data to be later uncompressed and written to a buffer in knoppix
 

hi. im having issues with my sound (expect it is kernel related from a botched compile) but want to watch some videozines i downloaded. I have sound with knoppix so my idea is to put them on my thumb drive to watch in knoppix. The thing is i can't fit all of them on there at once uncompressed so i had the idea of compressing them and being able to uncompress them and have them stored in the cache memory to run from. My question is is this possible and if so could someone tell me how to do it if it isn't too involved or point me to a website if it is involved. Thanks for any help in advance. i appreciate it.
