best tool for the job or how to tell what distro is best for me
I know, I know, another which linuxis best thread. I'm trying to do this different though, I don't want to know what is your favorite linux, I want to see if it's possible to come up with a list of categories (like what linux is good for general use, what is good for multimedia use, what is good for gaming, good for newbies, that sort of thing) and sort linux by that (and having them fit in multiple categories is okay as long is there really is not best distro for it). I don't really know much about the various linux distros so that is why I am here.
First though I need advice for categories.
so far what sounds good to me is
Video games
Multimedia
Office Use
Programming (this may be a little too general though)
Newbie Friendly
Very Compatible
(the whole idea is a sort of chart that you can look at and say, "Well this distro is good for x, x, and x, but not x, so maybe x distro which is good for x, x, and x is better for me.")
