Kubuntu had problems with the K-Menu and it wanted me to update to version 7.10, which is the version i had installed !
PCLinuxOs, i had it for one day. My nVidia drivers were not installed and I did something wrong and X would not start any more.

Yeah, how about something with great documentation, but you will hardly need to look at it. I would give up a lot of features for someting that I could read how to make work.
I quickly found several problems with Kubuntu 7.1.0 including Foxfire not letting me change configuration.
I would strongly encourage you to try Mandriva. That always works well for me (when I use it), the forums are very friendly, and the developers respond quickly to hardware and other bugs.
Opensuse is not my favorite, particularly for beginners.
never done mandriva, but when you compare KDE 4.1 in Fedora 10, Kubuntu and OpenSUSE 11.1, you have got to go OpenSUSE. I guess as long as you don't hate Novell that much for their sell out.
