ok here is the deal i install it then i test x-windows using that part in the instal... works fine so i jump for joy... now i reboot and wonderful my x-windows now just keeps blinking a white(one with the x's) then black screen
how do i fix this and how do i telll my box to not start x right away arghhhhh!
At boot: type init 3 to enter into runlevel 3 which is multiuser mode and not graphical. Then from there, try to reconfigure X using Xconfigurator.
Or while its blinking, see if you can't either do a ctrl-alt-backspace to kill X, if that doesn't work, try switching your console by doing a alt-F2 or ctrl-alt-F2, at the prompt, then type init 3 and it should reboot you to runlevel 3 so you can reconfigure X.

In my experience, the blinking will only go on for 5 minutes. It will then drop into console mode for 5 mins. While in console mode, log on as root, edit /etc/inittab to boot into runlevel 3:
