I hope Alpha Core doesn't do like RedHat has done with the built-in exploits of OpenSSL. http://www.linuxsecurity.com/content/view/105849/110/

If you don't know what I'm talking about, take a look in the updates directory at download.fedora.redhat.com and you will see a lower revision of OpenSSL, 0.9.6b.

If you are using YUM to upgrade Fedora Core, yum won't load the older version and the exploit will always remain. That is if you get the yum.conf from http://www.fedorafaq.org . Someone needs to tell them about the OpenSSL 0.9.7a problem because the yum.conf setting they have and are giving to countless thousands of Fedora Core users doesn't go for "obsolete" packages by default.


Then of course there's the little issue that comes with all Fedora Core releases and that is sshd running by default with allowances for the type 1 ssh protocal and root logins. But if you are an AlphaServer owner like me, you too are happy like me because on the front page of http://www.alphalinux.org they address all the bugs in OSes. Of course there is no way of telling if they post 'em before or after something goes wrong.....
