A couple linux server questions...

I've been running Linux full time for about four months so I'm no pro. I need a distro for my office server and was wondering what a good, easy to use and set up distro would be? I need it to have some desktop as I don't know line command too well. It'll just be basicly a shared hd for the office computers and won't be hosting anything over the net.

Also, do I just run the line from my modem into the wireless router with one hard line going to the server and the wireless cards in the workstations? Or is there another way I should be setting up a network by running it all into the server and out from there?

Any help with this would be GREAT!

PS Can you run a live CD for this and still pull info off the server hds without any trouble?

Since you're saying all this machine will do is share files with other machines in your office, maybe all you need is Samba so you can talk to the Windows clients. In that case, just about any distro will do fine. If you want a name, then maybe Fedora. It doesnt' really matter because any of them will run Samba. I think you should pick the distro you are most comfortable with and install Samba onto it.

You kinda lost me about your wiring scheme. I think all you need to do is run a line (RJ-45)from an ethernet card on your server to one of the ports on your wireless router. That should do fine. Of course I'm assuming that your DSL modem is feeding the WAN port of your wireless router?

Don't know anything about live CD. Sorry.
