is there 1GB ram support for suse 9.0?

Does anyone know if suse 9.0 will support 1GB ram.
8.2 does not

2 Gb limit ?

a quick hunt on google turned up this: http://lists.suse.com/archive/suse-l...-Jun/0436.html

seems there's a 2 Gb limit in the linux kernal ? that mailing list post is from 1999 though.

putting "linux memory limit" into google news finds http://groups.google.com/groups?hl=e....occa.home.com - 64 Meg in 2.4.

probably worth looking around for more official sources though.

i was reading in the forums here that suse 8.2 has a limit of 800MB, and this is specific to suse rather than the linux kernel.

I'll contact them directly

really ?
seems odd that a distro would impose what would be an (effectively) artificial limit on ram.
now I'm curious :)
can you reply with the details if/when you get them ?
